Community Involvement:

CAFS is an active participant in:

  • the Wendouree West and Delacombe Community Renewal programs
  • community education and networking programs including the Family Violence Prevention Network, School Focused Youth Service and Family Service networks in east Grampians
  • in other programs with a community involvement focus such as the Daylesford Youth Participation Program, Men and Family Relationships, Financial Counselling and  Gamblers Help
  • and our work in regional centres where we are committed to building community capacity as an adjunct to rural service delivery.

    South of Sturt St, Ballarat:

CAFS has taken a special interest in the south side of Sturt St, Ballarat, as part of  the Ballarat Family Services Innovation Project. Our major community involvements are:

    • through day to day contact with schools, kindergartens, maternal and child health centres and other community agencies south of Sturt St
    • as an auspice for the developing community house in Delacombe.  This includes project worker positions with a focus on establishing the community house
    • in "Strengthening Generations--Ballarat Communities That Care® ", a community project that focuses on Sebastopol/Delacombe (3356 postcode) and Wendouree (3355 postcode).

    Delacombe Community House:

CAFS is the auspice for  the Delacombe Community House at 102 Leawarra Crescent (phone 5335 6633).  The House has been renovated and occupied since April 2006 and services and activities will commence during mid 2006.  We are grateful to the Department of Human Services, Ballarat City Council, United Way, Ballarat, several other funding bodies, local agencies and schools and, especially the residents of Delacombe for their support!
