What about all the government funding that has been announced? Why can’t we stay at home on full pay? The government-announced cash flow assistance has been at a high level. Cafs is continually reviewing all funding on offer. Whilst the maximum grant amount of $100,000 may appear generous, this amount does not even equate to half of Cafs staff wages for a one-week period. The amount is also not payable as one lump sum, rather it is payable over three quarterly periods. The loans of up to $250,000 are not yet able to be accessed and, importantly, these are loans only – they need to be repaid at a later date. If Cafs were to secure the highest loan rate, this amount, combined with the $100,000 grant, would not sufficiently cover two weeks’ worth of wages for every employee at Cafs.
