  2. About

Thread Together is coming to Ballarat!

Cafs will soon be launching a fantastic new partnership with Thread Together to provide people in need across the Ballarat region with brand-new clothing and accessories. Thread Together is a not-for-profit organisation driving social and environmental change by redistributing excess clothing stock through purpose-designed clothing hubs. Without Thread Together, many of these items would end up in landfill.

Through the Cafs’ Thread Together hub, those in need are given a referral to be able to shop (for free) for a new outfit. Thread Together hubs are designed to enable customers to build trust and rapport within a dignified, safe and positive environment. Cafs is very proud to be partnering with Thread Together to be the first to launch this community service program in regional Victoria.

Now recruiting volunteers!

We are currently seeking volunteers to join Cafs and be part of our fantastic new partnership with Thread Together.

Based out of 11 Grenville Street South in Central Ballarat, our volunteers will be providing personalised customer service to our customers and assisting them to select their brand-new outfits. As a volunteer you will learn new skills and work alongside other like-minded volunteers.

If you are passionate about making a difference to people in need in the local community and are interested in becoming a Thread Together volunteer, contact Nicole Roberts, Program and Volunteer Lead, on 5337 3333 or via email [email protected]

Expression of interest - original artworks for Cafs

Cafs is seeking expressions of interest from creative people within our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to develop artwork for two significant projects - an artwork to be featured in Cafs' Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2021-2023 and adapted for reporting and promotion of the RAP, and an original mural to be painted on site, at Cafs Family Contact Centre in Black Hill, Ballarat.
