We are part of Australia’s Redress Schemes to support survivors and honour their experiences.
We recognise the trauma of institutional abuse and are committed to accountability, healing and support.
Cafs was one of the first institutions to voluntarily join the National Redress Scheme and subsequent schemes in Australia, demonstrating our commitment to acknowledging and addressing historical harm.
We understand the lasting impact of institutional abuse and take responsibility for our past actions. Our participation in the Scheme is a key part of our public apology and ongoing support for survivors, ensuring they receive the recognition and care they deserve.
The National Redress Scheme provides acknowledgment and support to people who experienced institutional child sexual abuse.
Established in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, it is designed to offer an alternative to seeking compensation through the courts.
It is operated by the Australian Government, commenced in July 2018 and will run for 10 years.
If you’re considering applying, you don’t have to do it alone. Free and confidential support is available to help you understand your options, fill in the application and access services along the way.
Support for those who experienced harm in Victorian institutional care beyond sexual abuse.
The State Redress Scheme provides support to people who have experienced institutional care-related harm in Victoria, including neglect and physical or emotional abuse, not just sexual abuse.
This scheme was announced in 2023 and complements the National Redress Scheme. Cafs participates in both schemes.
Let’s build a better future, together.
Whether you’re reaching out for support, seeking more information or looking to give back, partner, join or volunteer, we’d love to hear from you.
