Foster Care with Cafs

A safe place. A powerful difference.

At Cafs, we believe every child deserves a safe, nurturing home – somewhere they feel seen, heard and valued.

Foster care provides that sanctuary, offering children and young people stability when their own home is no longer safe.

As a trained and accredited foster carer with Cafs, you’ll become part of something truly life-changing. Whether it’s for a weekend, a few months or longer, every moment you share helps shape a safer, brighter future. Because when you open your heart and your home, you’re not just fostering a child – you’re fostering hope.

At Cafs, you're more than a foster carer, you're a valued partner in creating safety and hope for children and young people. We’ll be right beside you, every step of the journey.

Who we support with our foster care program

Creating safe, stable homes for children when they need it most.

Cafs' foster care program in the Victorian Central Highlands supports children and young people aged 0–17 who are unable to live safely with their families due to challenging circumstances. Our goal is to place each child with an accredited foster carer who can offer a safe, nurturing environment, a place where they feel valued, supported and secure.

Foster care can be short-term, medium-term or long-term. Wherever possible, we work toward safely reuniting children with their birth families, while ensuring their wellbeing is always the priority.

From training to peer connection and one-on-one guidance, we’re here to help you thrive as a foster carer.

Dedicated foster carers come from all walks of life

At Cafs, we value inclusion & diversity. If you’ve got space in your heart & home, you could be the difference in a child’s life.

We believe great foster carers come from all walks of life. If you can offer a nurturing home, you may have what it takes.
We welcome carers of all backgrounds, cultures, identities and life stages. You can be single, partnered, retired, working full-time or part-time or in a same-sex relationship.

What matters most is your ability to provide a safe, caring environment for a child who needs it in Victoria.

We feel reassured knowing that we are supported by an organisation that cares deeply for children.
